Transport Manager

Role: Transport Manager

Location: Southfleet, Gravesend 

Hours: 7am to 5pm - Monday to Friday 

Pay: £38,000 per annum 

Extrastaff are currently recruiting for an experienced and highly organised Transport Manager to join a team and take responsibility for the effective management, compliance and optimisation of the transport and distribution operation, managing a small team for a builders merchants in Southfleet, Gravesend.

Duties for Transport Manager :

• Organising deliveries and pickups
• Organise staff and transport availability to ensure goods are delivered on time.
• Generate delivery paperwork.
• Making arrangements to ensure that drivers comply with drivers' hours and tachograph rules.
• Reporting and recording vehicle defects highlighted by drivers.
• Ensuring the safety of vehicles and staff at all times.
• Ensure conpliance with health and safety requirements and all transport legislation.

Requirements for Transport Manager :

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Flexibility and thoroughness.
• The ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
• A reasonable level of fitness
• Previous experience is essential
• Strong IT skills
• Knowledge of DVSA regulatory requirements.
• Transportation, route planning and logistics experience.
• Strong geographical knowledge.
• Must hold a Transport Manager CPC
